The Show.
Saturday 1st September 2007
Event opens from 07.30am gates close at 8.00pm
GUINNESS Record attempt.
This will take place in the Main Ring at 1.00pm.
The Record Attempt.
To perform the ‘largest Morris dance'- all dancers must be dancing a traditional Morris Dance for the duration of the dance tune played.
Adjudication.
The record attempt will be conducted in accordance with those rules set by GUINNESS RECORDS.
The show organisers will provide marshals to ensure correct adherence to the rules set.
The Dance.
The Dance being utilised for the attempt is Shepherd's Hey- Ilmington (or any other dance Tradition that will fit the Ilmington dance tune format, as notified). The duration of the dance is approximately
2 minutes 50 seconds.
Application to Participate.
Each participating side must obtain a ‘registration' pack from the Moreton Show office and return the application form by 15th August 2007 to be eligible to participate, tickets will be issued for admission.
Fitness to Participate.
Each participating side ‘Squire' shall ensure that the participating dancers are fit to perform the dance and that there is no known medical condition that is likely to affect their performance during the attempt.
Show Admission.
Admission to the Show will be by ticket only. Each participating dancer and musician will be provided with a complimentary ticket and family and followers will be offered tickets at a discounted cost.
Number of tickets required must be notified upon application to be issued before the event.
Car parking.
Car parking will be as directed to designated parking areas, passes will be issued as necessary.
Registration.
Accepted sides must register at the Record Registry Office at the show by 12noon.
Each dancer of each participating side must sign the registration log.
Dance Area and Surface.
The Main Ring (102m x 53m) close mown grass surface (not rolled)
Formation of Dance Sides.
Each entered side is allocated a marshal.
Within the Main Ring- marked ‘line-up' boards sited for sides to line up in column formation across the ring; individual marshal will lead the side into position and lead off at the end of the dance.
Music.
The music will be provided for the dance by ‘selected' musicians from participating sides who should be proficient in the playing of the notified tune.
Amplification will be provided.
A ‘lead musician' will be identified and all musicians should follow the lead musicians call.
The tune will be played in the key of G major.
Musicians.
Each participating side may nominate one musician to join the band for the record attempt.
The formation of the band will be arranged by the show officials.(It will not be practical to allow all musicians attending to participate and sides are asked to be sympathetic to this ruling)
Awards.
Each participating dancer will be presented with an appropriate award and certificate to commemorate the achievement. Certain awards may necessarily be presented after the event dependant upon production.
Refreshments Pack.
Each dancer will be given a refreshments pack upon leaving the main ring following the record attempt.
Medical Facilitie.s
There will be a First Aid facility provided by para-medics on site
Additional Attractions.
There will be bar facilities with availability of Real Ale
Camping facilities may be provided at a nearby village- Broadwell (At ‘The Fox Inn' camp site, limited facilities available within the public house- application must be made for an appropriate pass)
Dancing around the Show.
A number of ‘designated' dance spots will be notified around the show ground for participating sides to ‘busk' at. Interest in using these must be indicated upon application.
Collecting will be permitted whilst within the show ground in order to help defray expenses incurred in attending the event.
